This application provides short-term live viewing (LAN MJPEG), basic camera usage and on-device video recording features. The following items describe the terms of use, privacy policy and technical limitations of the app.
1. Age Requirement
Mental X is intended for users aged 13 and above.
2. Privacy and Security
- The app does not upload any image, video or recording to a remote server.
- All data is stored locally on the device only.
- User data is not shared with third parties.
3. Camera and Microphone Access
- Camera permission is required for live streaming and video recording.
- Microphone permission is required in modes where audio is recorded.
4. Photo / Video Library Access
The app uses photo/video library access only to save the videos recorded by the user onto the device.
5. Local Network (LAN) Access
- Live streaming works only within the same Wi-Fi network (LAN).
- Bonjour / mDNS services may be used if needed.
- No live streaming is performed over the public internet.
6. Short-Term Live Streaming Warning
- MJPEG-based live streaming may use more CPU and battery than normal usage.
- Long sessions may cause the device to warm up; this is expected.
- This feature is designed for short-term, instant viewing only and is not a replacement for a professional surveillance system.
7. Recording Retention Policy
- Recordings are stored only on the device.
- If storage is full, the oldest recordings may be deleted automatically or new recordings may not be possible.
- The general goal is to keep recordings for up to around 1 week, depending on the device’s storage capacity.
8. Disclaimer of Liability
- The app is not designed as a professional security system, baby monitor, medical monitoring tool or long-term recording solution.
- Use of the application is entirely at the user’s own risk.
- The developer cannot be held responsible for misuse, data loss or unauthorized viewing of third parties.
9. Updates
- Mental X may be updated over time; features may be added, changed or removed.
- Using the app means you accept the most recent version of these terms of use.
10. Important Technical Notes
- Live streaming works only on the local network (LAN), not over the public internet.
- During recording, the app may continue running in the background; long-term usage increases battery consumption.
- Device warming is expected when using live streaming and high brightness for extended periods.
